On Saturday 28th March the Hall Cross Cup for the under 16s age group took place at Hall Cross Lower School in Doncaster.  It was the first of what is hoped to be an annual event for this age group and was a nine a side competition played on the full size pitches.  It was great to see the extra space being fully utilised and some of the long passing made for some great switch play.

Twelve teams were entered, although one was a no-show but the quality of the event was excellent.  The matches were of 15 minutes duration one way, with the semis and the final being played over 20 minutes.

With the top two teams in each division going through to the semi finals; Group A was won by Ordsall with the runners up being Bessacarr and Group B was won by Bessacarr U15s with Bentley Athletic coming second.

In the first semi final Bentley Athletic overcame Ordsall and in the second Bessacarr U15s were victors over the U16s.  In the final Bessacarr U15s beat Bentley Athletic 2-1 with a late goal in the last minute of extra time.

Unfortunatelty the weather was rather inclement but the event was a great success and will hopefully be repeated again next year.
