U10 Hall Cross Boys 6 - 2 Bessacarr B

Following on from the extremely one sided game beforehand, wholesale changes were made to even things up more for the 2nd league game of the day (postponed earlier in the season). With Brandon going in goal, Callum and Jack in defence, Danny, Henry, Daniyal in midfield, it was Christian's turn to try and emulate Jay and Ross's performance earlier. This time however, it was Hall Cross who started brightly, and immediately moved into a 2 goal lead. Brandon, had no chance with the first 2 or with the 3rd, as the boys tried to put the euphoria of the earlier game behind them. On a rare break Christian hit the post from long range, but as Hall Cross's confidence grew, they got forward in numbers and soon added a 4th and then a 5th goal - a total about turn from the earlier game. However, Lewis came on for Jack, who was carrying an injury, and finally gave Bessacarr hope, with the goal of the day...from inside his own half (I'm sure he'll tell you he meant it!). With the boys going into half time 1-5 down it was time to re-group and revert to the same starting line up as in the earlier game. With Ross, Jay, Ant and Lewis all on the field, and Callum back in goal, it was going to take a big effort, but we were all hopeful. Ross got a 2nd early on, and it looked like the comeback was on. As Bessacarr threw everything forward, they just lacked a bit of composure at times, but Ross and Jay both went close. Daniyal hit the post, and Jack then had a goal ruled out, as the ball was adjudged to have gone out for a throw in earlier on in the move (try telling Jack that). Brandon came back on for Jack, but the goal just wouldn't come. Ross played a long ball through, and as Ant swung and missed it, Jay followed up and hit the bar. As Hall Cross broke towards the end they got a 6th, to finish the game off. A strange game, and unlike the earlier one, this time the ball just wouldn't break for the boys. No faulting their effort though - with 17 goals in 2 games, it was perfectly summed up at the end, when the boys all exclaimed together that it had been "brilliant"!! (MoM over the 2 games = Jay).
