U11 Bessacarr FC 3 - 1 Barnby Dun Colts PDF Print E-mail

After back to back wins, the boys were looking forward to making it a hat trick against Barnby Dun, and with everybody available except Brandon, hopes were high again. They kicked off and straight from the whistle went on to the attack. As the boys put some good moves together down each wing, it only seemed a matter of time before they got an opening goal, and the breakthrough came when Ross managed to weave his way through the middle (without bumping his head!) and put a low shot into the net to make it 1-0. However, Barnby Dun didn’t lie down, and the Bessacarr defence had to be on their guard as they tried to break away several times. The boys defended well, leaving Jacob with little to do, and kept their own attacks coming. Emil found himself clear on the left of the penalty area and moved in on goal. His shot wasn't held by the Barnby Dun keeper, and Jay G managed to put in the rebound…but unfortunately the linesman's flag had already gone up, which was spotted by the eagle-eyed referee and the goal was disallowed for offside. However, almost straight from the free kick, Bessacarr won the ball back, and Jay G found himself in on goal again, this time onside, and another low shot made it 2-0. In spite of several more chances the score remained this way until half time. With several changes being made, it was Bessacarr who started the second half on the attack once again, with Rhys and Joe also managing to get forward in support. After a few minutes, a corner from Emil on the right found Rhys at the near post, and his powerful header (Shearer!) made it 3-0. The boys could sense there were more goals to come, but try as they did they couldn’t find a way through. Barnby Dun continued to be a threat on the break, and although Christian and Thomas managed to deal with a few dangerous breaks, they finally managed to pull a goal back towards the end. In spite of a couple of minutes added time, there was no further score, and the game finished in another 3-1 victory. Again, some really good periods of play by the boys, who worked hard as a team, and should again feel proud of their performance. Another well deserved victory!
