U11 West End Bentley 1-0 Bessacarr FC PDF Print E-mail

After the last encouraging performance, hopes were high that the boys would continue where they left off with their 2nd half perfomance against Rossington. Again a full squad was available which meant that somebody had to stand down - this time being Thomas. As the game kicked off it swung from end to end. Although the game was quite even it was Bentley that created the clearer chances, meaning Brandon (captain for the day), Joe, Christian, Jack R and Jacob all had to work hard to prevent Bentley taking the lead. Henry, Oscar, Cameron and Jack linked up well several times which looked promising, but Bessacarr's best chance came after some good play by Jay W down the middle, who broke into the area but saw his well placed shot saved by the Bentley keeper. However, it was Bentley who took the lead, following a quick breakaway, and went into half time leading 1-0. Following several changes the boys tried hard to get back into the game and gradually started to get on top, palying some lovely football. As they pushed forwards there were a couple of occasions where it just needed somebody to shoot (...hence the screams from Martin & myself!). Ross must have heard the screams, and twice went within inches of getting an equaliser, but in spite of all the presure the goal just wouldn’t come, and the game ended in a hard fought but narrow defeat. With a little more luck, and conviction in front of goal they could easily have gone on to win, but maybe something to work on in training boys?
