Bessacarr FC are delighted to announce their success at becoming a FA Charter Standard Club at COMMUNITY Level. This is the highest possible award in the Charter Standard programme and represents a tremendous achievement for the club since they are one of only 16 throughout the whole of the Sheffield & Hallamshire region to secure this prestigious accolade. Only 350 clubs have achieved Community Level in England. This success has come about through hard work and dedication by club members and in particular Secretary Nathan Batchelor who has committed a large amount of his valuable time and energy to moving the club forward. Well done Nathan and a big thank you from all at Bessacarr FC.

For more information about Charter Standard visit http://www.sheffieldfa.com/Development/CharterStandard/

The work is not finished and the club are looking to continue progress in a number of areas. One of these is the establishment of a girls team affiliated to the girls league during the forthcoming 2010/2011 season and the formation of an open age team to compete in the Alliance league. Chairman Mick White is sponsoring the latter project and is hopeful of announcing more on this in the near future.

The Charter Standard scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and Child Protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League. As a benchmark for quality it will improve the playing experience for all.

Each year the FA seeks to recognise the volunteers and clubs within grassroots football who go above and beyond to provide football opportunities within their community.

These awards are first presented at County FA level, with the winners moving forward to the regional and then national awards

The Awards programme is only open to clubs who have received Charter Standard Club status, which consists of the following categories:

Clubs: (can only apply for the category matching their Charter Standard award)
* Charter Standard Club
* Charter Standard Adult Club
* Charter Standard Development Club
* Charter Standard Community Club

Individuals:

* Charter Standard Club Coach
* Charter Standard Club Administrator
* FA Workforce Awards

Bessacarr FC have been selected as the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Charter Standard Club Development Club Winners 2009.

Not only that, but the following have won individual awards too:

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Workforce Award Winner (Ian Biddle - Under 15 "A" Manager)

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Charter Standard Club Administrator 2009 (Nathan Batchelor - Club Secretary)

The awards are to be presented at the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Presentation Evening which is taking place next week.

So congratulations to everyone involved with the club and let's continue as we move forward.
